Sentimental Rose

How's everyone today?

I am here to share a sympathy card I made for  Tutti Designs using this beautiful

Rose Frame

Sadly this type of occasion is one that hits us all at sometime.

I only used lilac card with the white to keep it soft and simple.

Cut the Rose frame in white card and emboss. As it is an intricate frame be sure and run it

through your cutting machine a few times, or add an extra shim, for best results.

Then using sticky dots I adhered to a piece of lilac card and trimmed to fit white rose frame.

Keep the white centre from the die cut to stamp your sentiment.

Trim a piece of lilac card and run through with chosen embossing folder.

I went with roses to match the Rose Frame.

I added a piece of vintage lace to tie in with the soft look.

Next I stamped my chosen sentiment in the off cut from the Rose Frame.

Be sure to have the off cut facing right way as it fits in nicely then.

I stuck this in centre of frame. Added 3d foam to back and adhered to my card.

Now it's time to make the flowers.

Using Scalloped Stitched Nesting Circles I cut

4 circles for centre flower and 3 for two smaller flowers.

Hold these in place with a brad. Doesn't matter if not the same as

I will be covering them later.

Spray the flowers with water and scrunch up. Then dry off with heat tool.

Gently re-open the flowers, drying again if necessary.

Add a punched lilac circle and adhere to centre.

Add to your card and finish with a nice bow.

I have had a few sympathy cards to make recently and this is what I came up with.

Dies are from Tattered Lace (card shape and tree)

Feathers die came free with magazine 

Dragonfly die is from Sizzix

The music notes have been punched.

The background papers are from my stash and I have coloured the dragonfly using 

spectrum noir sparkle pens

Look what I am here with today!

The lovely Gayle at Teddy Bo is releasing her gorgeous Darcys Diaries images again and I am super excited to be able to say I am on the design team!!

The image I have used today can be found HERE.

I have coloured her with copics and promarkers and matted her onto two different layers and added some faux stitching. I found this stamp in my stash which I thought went perfectly with her. Very apt for a sympathy card but she would be great for a 'sorry card', 'sad news', 'loss', 'thinking of you' etc etc.

When words help

I had three thinking of you cards to make recently, this is one of them. This was for a Mum who had lost a lifelong friend and her daughter wanted to give her a card to get her feelings across. She was very pleased with this and so was I. I spent ages searching for the right words for such a delicate situation.

I used 3 book layers and mounted it all onto an a5 card which I trimmed to follow the shape.

I had a sympathy card to make for a friend who lost her husband very suddenly. I wanted it to be a bit more special than usual so went for a boxed book type card. It has lots of layers underneath with more sentiments and flowers but I had meant to get my daughter to help photograph it when she got home but completely forgot and I have now delivered the card:(

The Crafty Pad - something new (new card)

A sad and delicate situation

I had a phone call early Saturday morning from a lady looking a card for a couple who had just lost their baby twins. Both were little girls, one died at 3 days old the other at 5 days old. I have mulled over this card design for two days and this is what I ended up with. Please let me know if you think this is suitable for the situation. The lady did not want thinking of you or with sympathy etc on the card. She did want white butterflies and pink bears as the parents have been seeing little butterflies when they visit the twins grave.
I stuck with embossing white card, white lace and spellbinders butterflies in soft pink and white and a tiny bit of glitter. The lettering for the parents names is from Making Memories stickers.

I added two little pink bears and a tiny cross. Won't sleep till the lady receives this so I am really hoping the wording is suitable.

On butterfly wings...

There is a lovely big challenge going on over at The Crafty Pad Stamp Designs blog with the most wonderful prizes up for offer. You can make anything you like so long as you use a Crafty Pad stamp or digi image (one that you have bought not a freebie). I had bought this lovely digi butterfly a while back, you can also get it as a stamp, and it is the most beautiful layered butterfly I have ever used. I used it again today as it was perfect for this particular Month's Mind card. A lot of you have been wondering what a Month's Mind is so thought I would explain. When a person dies there is the funeral mass and a month later everyone gathers together again to have another special mass to mark the Month's Mind of that person. Its very helpful for the family who have lost a love one as its lets them see the people who still have them in their thoughts and prayers and they don't feel so alone. We celebrate another big mass on their 1st year anniversary. All this helps in the grieving process.

For this card I used the lovely papers from papercrafts4you again. I searched the web for an appropriate sentiment and found this one. I printed the butterfly, cut and coloured it with promarkers and layered it up. I didn't add any sparkle as I thought it wasn't appropriate for this particular card.

Month's Mind

Had two cards to make for a Month's Mind of my late cousin's son who died suddenly a month ago. So sad as he left behind a wife and two little girls. I found the sentiment on google and played about with the text to turn it into word art. The papers are from Paperscraft4You, the flowers are vellum die cuts, which I embossed, from a kit I got years ago from qvc along with the little butterflies, which I coloured with silver here and there. I added some faux stitching round the edges. Its always so hard to make this type of card so I hope this one is ok.
